The first rector’s conference for the year 2019 upon resumption from the Christmas break was held on Tuesday January 8, 2019. The Rector, Fr. Francis Adesina, started his conference on a note of welcome to all seminarians back to the seminary. In his address the Rector reflecting on Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis articles 130-131 reminds the seminarians that they are important protagonists of their formation which is against the mindset of most seminarians who price their formators to be the sole agent of formation. As such, seminarians are to discover the role they ought to play in their own formation so as to attain a proper formation for seminarians are responsible for establishing and maintaining a climate of formation that is consistent with the values of the Gospel. In this light, seminarians must take care that their response to authentic priestly formation must not only show in their external behaviours, but must be evident in the development of proper interior life.

The Rector then went further to congratulate and welcome the new clerics in the house having been blessed with the gift of diaconate ordination and these clergy men are six in number two: Rev. Ariole Paul and Rev. Onyia Emmanuel from the Archdiocese of Lagos; Rev. Obonin Boma, Rev. Owan Clement and Rev. Urhi Matthew from the Diocese of Bomadi and Rev. Eseola Emmanuel from the Archdiocese of Ibadan. They were advised to take full possession of their ministry while still in the seminary in order to be fully prepare for the priestly ministry.
