Theology Departmental Lecture
Friday, December 1, 2017

Inasmuch as Theology is principally a scientific study of the nature of God, it also preoccupies itself with the formation of the human person in the pattern of Christ. Hence, its goal is not simply to aid a theoretical appreciation of God, but to help humanity develop a Christ-like character in praxis. The recognition of this goal of Theology indeed informed the selection of the topic for the Theology departmental lecture, held on the 1st of December, 2017: “Humility as the Spiritual Fragrance that Attracts People to Christ and Its Implication for Formation.” The talk, which was geared towards aiding the formation of candidates to the Catholic Priesthood, was delivered by Rev. Fr. Augustine Famoriyo, and ably moderated by Rev. Sr. Florence Oso, EHJ. The guest speaker beautifully presented the virtue of humility, emphasizing its relevance in our lives as Christians, especially as priests and religious who act in persona Christi, if we are to lead people closer to God in their journey of faith. The lecture, which was greatly beneficial, roused a large amount of questions and contributions from the audience who were present.
